Obituary of Donald Hoffman

Donald Hoffman 93, originally from Vermillion, Ohio passed into his heavenly life on February 21, 2010. Don was loved and well-respected by family and friends. Don retired as a National Sales Representative for ITT Wakefield in 1982 after serving 45 years. Don was an active member in his community where he served as: President of the Boy Scouts, President of the American Field Service (AFS), he and wife Delaures opened their home to foreign exchange students, served as Vice Mayor, Free Masons-Master Mason, City Council member, School Board Member, and proudly served as a Deacon in his church. In Ohio, Don was honored as "Man of the Year" twice; he received numerous sporting and community accolades throughout his lifetime. Don actively organized and participated in many sports clubs through-out his life, including dancing and bowling. In 1986 he and wife Delaures moved to South Carolina. His greatest passion was Golf where he was affectionately titled "Man in Charge." He organized many golf clubs traveling to various golf resorts throughout the South. In 2004, he and his wife moved to Tucson to be closer to immediate family. While in Tucson he played golf and participated in bridge games for he loved the mental challenge of the game. He enjoyed spending time with his family and new found friends in Tucson. Preceding him in death were parents; August and Cora; siblings Roland, Gladys, Bessie, Harold and Edna Mae. He leaves wife of 70 years Delaures (Barnes) Hoffman, son Mike (Sara), daughter Nan Pettigrew (PJ), grandchildren; Patrick Pettigrew (Christi), Amy Pettigrew-Meyer (Mike), William Hoffman, and Melanie Hoffman-Parson; great-grand children Joshua Pettigrew, Lindsey Pettigrew and Elena Parson. Don, "Grandpa Hoffman" has scored a "Hole in One" in our hearts forevermore! A Celebration of Don Hoffman's life will be held on Friday, February 26 at 1 pm at Angel Valley Funeral Home at 2545 North Tucson Blvd.
