Obituary of Richard Young

Richard Ray Young June 11, 1960 – July 4, 2018 Richard “Rick” “Ricky” Young passed away on July 4th, 2018 after a long and hard battle with cancer. He attended Rincon High School and was the son of Lonas and Julia Young. He was the youngest of five brothers: Steve, Randy, Larry and Danny. Growing up in Tucson, Rick and his family spent a lot of their time at The Sunset Rollerama Skating Rink which his father owned. You can say it was Rick's home away from home. Rick and the entire Young family were very proud of the skating rink and share some of their most cherished memories there. Rick and his endlessly supportive partner in art and life, Tom Galloway, worked together to create Tile Canvases. This is where Rick and Tom collaborated with Steve Farley to invent Tilography. Rick glazed many murals, gracing walls throughout the world, including Tucson’s Broadway Underpass murals that were dedicated in 1999. Rick was a very brave and beautiful man who fought cancer with every ounce of his being right up to the very end. Although he will leave a void in many lives, we know that he is now in a peaceful place. Please join us for a Celebration of Life on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at Angel Valley Funeral Home located at 2545 N. Tucson Blvd. Tucson, AZ 85716. Rick will also have a special memorial built at All Faiths Cemetery & Memorial Park located at 2151 S. Avenida Los Reyes Tucson, AZ 85748. This will be Rick’s final resting place.
