Dennis, Hedwig 1964 - 2018 With great sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Hedwig on October 16. Hedwig was born and raised in Texas. After attending college in Texas, she moved to Arizona and became a beloved English teacher at Bisbee High School and Catalina Foothills High School. Although she was born in Texas, the Catalina Mountains stole her heart. Hedwig loved her beautiful simple life, a cup of coffee while reading a book, hiking the many canyons and mountains around Tucson, playing cribbage or solving a crossword with her husband Bill, playing games with her children, whipping up a pot of beans for their weekly potluck, cooking special meals for holidays and birthdays, and of course visiting family or spending time her many friends and neighbors. Hedwig’s love for family, friends, and faith was always strong and helped to sustain her during her lengthy battle with ovarian cancer. The family would like to thank the wonderful nurses and doctors of the University of Arizona Cancer Center, who cared for Hedwig with great compassion during her illness. Services will be held at St. Frances Cabrini 3201 E. Presidio Rd Tucson Rosary: Oct. 28 @ 5:00 pm. Funeral Mass Oct. 29th @ 5:00 pm. Reception to follow @ 6:30 pm La Cocina 201 N. Court Ave. Tucson In lieu of flowers, donations to Sister Jose Women’s Center PO Box 1028 Tucson, EZ 85702 would be appreciated. While she left us too soon, Hedwig’s happiness, kindness, and quiet wisdom will live on in the hearts of all the families, friends and students whose lives she touched.
