Brenda Bass

Obituary of Brenda Bass

Brenda Joan Bass after a valiant battle with cancer went peacefully to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday May 27, 2011. Brenda was born December 18, 1944 in Clarksville Texas the second of six children. After the death of their mother Cle, Brenda and her older sister Theda raised the four youngest children as if they were their own. With a deep love and commitment to family they refused an offer by a relative to split the children up. Their love and devotion kept the family together even during the most difficult times. Moving had become a way of life for the Burns family. Beginning in the late fifties when Brenda was about fourteen until 1970 the family had ventured through much of the Southwest. Their moves took them throughout Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico and finally settling in Arizona. Brenda enjoyed horseback riding, hiking and family vacations in Utah, but her greatest passion was singing. During the late sixties Brenda, Theda and later their younger sister Martha were nightclub singers. Their career consisted of singing country and the blues throughout Texas and New Mexico. They performed in various nightclubs as well as performing at the Big D Jamboree. Brenda had a spirit for life that many only dream of. In 1976 Brenda along with her sister Martha became Certified Nurses Assistants. While caring for a patient Brenda met her future husband Neil Bass. It wasn’t love at first sight but that quickly changed and three months later in September Brenda and Neil were married. Brenda devoted the rest of her life to Neil and this September they would have been married 34 years. Brenda will be deeply missed but it is with a believer’s hope and happiness that we look forward to being together again in Heaven. Brenda is preceded in death by her mother and father Cleophus and Bennie Burns. She is survived by her husband Wesley Neil Bass of Tucson, Arizona. Sisters; Theda Hester of Winchsester, Indiana, Martha Grubb of Winslow, Indiana and Becky Cederholm of Princeton, Indiana. Brothers; John Burns of Las Vegas, Nevada and Bruce Burns of Tucson, Arizona.
