Obituary of William Shillue

William T. Shillue, 83, died on March 5, 2019 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Tucson, Arizona. He was born on November 23, 1935, the son of Dennis H. and Anna (Caulfield) Shillue. He was a graduate of Boston College High School (1953) and Stonehill College (1957). William married Rosemary Corrigan on August 29, 1959 at St. Gregory’s Church in Dorchester, MA. They were married for almost 60 years, living in Norwood, MA for the majority of their lives together (1965-2004), working and raising their family there. During his retirement they moved to southern Arizona, where they have come to thoroughly enjoy the beautiful landscape and friendly community of Arivaca. William will be remembered as a loving husband and father; as a steadfast provider throughout a long and varied career in education, computers, and business; as a man of great intelligence and wide-ranging skills and interests; as a writer, poet, and raconteur; and as a man of devotion to family, friends, and church. Survivors include his loving wife Rosemary C. Shillue; five children, Kathleen E. Shillue, Paisley Shaler (Jeff Chung), William P. Shillue (Elizabeth), Tom Shillue (Denise), and Mary Shillue-Goldberg (AC Goldberg), six grandchildren (Conor, Juliet, Agnes, Louise, Isis, Ezra), and several beloved nieces, nephews and in-laws. Preceding him in death were his parents and four siblings: Clare Higgins, Brian Shillue, Barbara Mahoney, and Pauline Hotter. Visitation will be held on Sunday March 10th, 2019 at Angel Valley Funeral Home Chapel, 2545 N. Tucson Blvd, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm with the Rosary beginning at 6:00 pm. Requiem Mass will be on Monday, March 11, 2019 at St. Gianna’s Oratory at Holy Family Church. Burial will follow at the Holy Hope Cemetery in Tucson, followed by a reception in the church basement.
