Obituary of Gloria Jean James

Gloria Jean James, 77, of Green Valley, Arizona, passed away, peacefully on October 31, 2019 at Canyon Valley Memory Care in Green Valley, Arizona with her sons by her side. She was born to parents Mabel and Paul Brandvold, on April 27, 1942 in Bottineau, North Dakota. She was second of seven children raised on the family farm near Souris, North Dakota.

Gloria attended Souris Public School and received her diploma in 1960. After graduating high school she attended Moser Secretarial School in Chicago and worked there for two years. Gloria has a certificate from Barbizon Modeling School, West Bloomfield, MI. Gloria also was a Free Lance Model (1992-1994), she modeled for boutiques, charity benefits, and print work. Gloria worked several years at Ameritech in Detroit, Michigan as an administrative assistant. She has a certificate from System One Computer & I.C.T.A Travel Career Development SarasotaTravel School, Sarasota, FL, 1995.

Gloria met Robert Travers in Chicago. They were married on May 26, 1962 in Souris, North Dakota. Together they had two children: Robert Travers and Joesph Travers. They lived in California for a time before moving to the East coast. This marriage later ended. Gloria married Bruce James in 1996 and they moved to Green Valley, Arizona. Bruce passed away in May of 1998. Gloria remained in Green Valley and enjoyed many activities with her friends. Gloria has resided at Canyon Valley Memory care since August 2019.

Gloria enjoyed traveling back to Michigan to visit her sons; Robert and Joesph and grandchildren; Sebastian, Haleigh and Aubrey.

She also enjoyed traveling to North Dakota to visit family and friends.

Gloria is survived by her children, Robert Travers of Fremont, MI and Joesph Travers of Lansing, MI; Grandson Sebastian Hoffman of Muskegon, MI, Granddaughters, Haleigh (David) Brooks of Twin Lake, MI, Aubrey Travers of Fremont, MI, Great Grandson, Remington Brooks; and her siblings Connie Michaelsen, New Smryna Beach, FL, Pat Kersten, Kramer, ND, Linda (Gene) Wyman of Bismarck, ND, Betty (John) Walker of Boise, Idaho, Tim (Marcia) Brandvold of St. Joesph, ND, and sister-in-law Margo Brandvold of Jacksonville; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Gloria was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce James, Her mother and father, Paul and Mabel, brother, Jerry,  nephew Corey,  great-niece, Brooke Brandvold and great nephew, Levi Nelson.

Glorias celebration of life is scheduled for Tuesday, November 5, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. at Valley Presbyterian Church, 2800 S Camino del Sol Green Valley, AZ, 85622, United States.
