Obituary of James Hall

James B. Hall, 87 went to be with his lord and savior, Jesus Christ on Sat. Nov. 2, 2019 in Tucson, Az. He was born in Ashland, Kentucky on Feb. 9, 1932 to Arcus Hall and Bertha Mae Kennard both deceased. Also predeceased are his brother Tom Hall and sister Faye Taylor.

Jim grew up in Waverly, Ohio. His parents had a farm where he helped with the work until he was drafted into the Army at the age of 19. He was sent to Korea to fight for his country as a field wireman. While he was there, he was wounded. He caught three shots in the legs and was taken to a hospital in Okinawa, Japan. He spent five months recuperating and was discharged in 1954 with the rank of Corporal. He never received his Purple Heart.

After a few different jobs, Jim went to work for the Federal Government as a Corrections Officer in Ohio in 1958. He married Marcia Sue Parsley  and then in 1966, their first child, Jimmy came along. Due to the Ohio federal prison closing, Jim was transferred to Arizona. where they laid down their roots. They welcomed another child, Holly Maria in 1969. Sadly, they divorced after 19 years of marriage. Jim faithfully served 30 years for the prison until 1986 when he chose to retire. After he retired, he moved to Tucson, Az.  Holly and her husband, Mony were in the Navy and stationed in Japan. He lived in an apartment of his own and worked for the apartment complex as the night watchman. They were sure sad to see him go.

When the grandchildren started coming, he put his heart and soul into his love for them. Holly and her husband Ramon were in the Navy and stationed in Japan when they had Ariel but Papa kept up with all of her activities. Papa helped raise Alexis and Brad. He was there for every minute of their child hood. He later moved in with Jimmy to help with the kids.

Jim was the best man at Jimmy’s wedding when he married Coleen Hall. Coleen was his caretaker in the last of his days before he went home. We all loved him very much and he is deeply missed.

Jim is survived by his brother Louie D. Hall of Chillicothe, Ohio and his sister Betty Rice of Athens, Ohio, his son James Bradley Hall, ( Coleen ) Daughter Holly Maria Granillo-Chief US Navy, ( Ramon ), four grandchildren, Ariel Marie Granillo ( Janessa ), Alexis Charlene Truesdale, Bradley James Hall, Noah David Granillo, Kelly Jade Cruz and Patrick James Cruz and two great-grandchildren, Eamon Tommy Allen Truesdale, and Rion Jade Beverly.
