Richard Hoge

Obituary of Richard Dale Hoge

Richard D. “Dick” Hoge age 73 died on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at the VA Hospice Care in Tucson with Nan by his side. He was born on June 29, 1946 in Tallmadge, OH to Dale and Jane (Wilson) Hoge. Dick served in the U.S. Army for four years in Ethiopia. He was married to Patsy Utt and had one daughter. Dick was a hair stylist for many years (where he could be around the ladies) and was a beauty school instructor. In 2002, Dick was certified by Microsoft and operated Dick’s Computer Concepts. Dick was a self-taught, do-it-yourselfer and jack-of-all trades who enjoyed the challenges of understanding how things worked, whether it was fixing his MG’s, building and racing radio-controlled cars or constructing a Koi pond. He kept busy in his woodshop, building with a high attention to detail, playing poker, hiking, roller skating, or tending his plants, especially the weird plants, following NASCAR and was a practiced gourmet chef. Dick was an active and dedicated member of the Tucson Association of Executives (TAE) for 18 years. He developed a talent for photography and created many computer-manipulated artworks with vibrant blooming flowers. Dick had a sense of humor, was generous and was a stickler for proper spelling, grammar and punctuation. He was known to call and correct local TV stations when news reports missed pronunciations or other errors after broadcasts. He is survived by his partner of 27 years, Nanette Charif; his daughter Renee (Doug) Barker or Washington; a cousin and and friends Rick Hogan and Jimmy Ross. And by his extended family the Jensen family in Wisconsin who considered him one of their own: Tim and Julie Jensen, Hannah Rennock, Celeste and Derek Grubbs, and James and Karen Jense. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Jim. A gathering to celebrate Dick’s life will be held at a later date. Memorials in Dick’s memory may be directed to PACC (Pima Animal Control Center) or the Humane Society or Beads of Courage. Love you till we meet again. By the way, can you send me a heavenly message on how to fix Windows 10?
