Memories are photographs taken by the heart to make special moments last forever and I am so very lucky to have had nearly 65 years of WONDERFUL MEMORIES with one of my best friends, my Sweet Janice. We shared so much together all through high school in Alliance, Nebraska and long thereafter.
One of my best memories is when we got on a train in Alliance together and rode to Moscow, Idaho University to attend our friend's Homecoming. We felt funny when we were almost there; got off the train and our friend took us to the University emergency room. Sure enough, we both had the flu and they put us in the university hospital where we had to stay for 3 days. Yep, we missed the homecoming events and had to get back on the train and head back to Alliance. We laughed about it all the time.
Janice was such a sweet, funny, beautiful person - she was constantly smiling and thinking well of others. I miss her each and every day BUT we will meet again - and the laughter will begin. I Love you, My Sweet Girl.
Hugs & more hugs,
Peggy Young Secaur

Thinking of Janice the very first thing that comes to mind for me is a hug. Most people when pausing to hug as a greeting or farewell engage in a quick embrace along with a few quick pats on the back. That wasn't Janice. When Janice hugged she would draw you into an embrace and then being in her arms would pull you in a little closer as though taking a part of you into her very heart. No pats, just warmth, the embrace.
I'll think of her joining in on good-natured ribbing about Donald Duck feet, culinary adventures, her ready, sparkling smile and her utter devotion to the things and beings she adored; her home, family, dogs and above all else the person who "completed" her and her passion in life, my brother Harry. The love of her life and the focus on her days an this earth, as long as it was possible for her to express, all thoughts were of her devotion to this husband and partner, her friend and her love.
Rest well my dear, you are and will be remembered and sorely missed.

I am Karen, Harry’s cousin. Maybe that means I was Janice’s cousin-in-law. I live In Wisconsin. We did not see each other often because we lived so far apart but we enjoyed getting together when we could.
After I retired, my husband Dick and I visited Harry and Janice several times and always stayed with them. Then I really got to know Janice. She was fun to be with, yet she could be serious and thoughtful. Janice was a wonderful cook and Dick and I always looked forward to her meals.
Harry and Janice liked to take us on daily trips in and around Tucson. I especially liked our trips to Mt. Lemon and Tombstone. Janice liked Tucson and was happy she lived there. After my husband passed away, there were less trips to Tucson but we still kept in touch.
Two years ago I was able to spend some time with Janice after she was diagnosed with her illness. She loved to go for rides, so every afternoon Harry would take us for a long ride. Then we would pick up supper and bring it home. After supper, Janice and I talked a lot. She shared photos of her family in Nebraska and told me about growing up there. They have a large photo gallery in their family room and she shared who was in each picture and why each person was important in her life. She loved to travel and told me about special trips she and Harry had taken.
Janice was a beautiful person inside and out. I feel so blessed I was able to spend quality time with her. Those memories will stay with me forever. Harry and Janice openly expressed their love for each other. They definitely were soulmates and shared a wonderful life together.
Harry’s deep love for Janice was evident when he chose to keep her home and care for her. That is a special tribute from a husband to his wife. Now the memories they shared and their life together will help to comfort Harry now and in the future.
I Love and Miss You, Janice.
Love,
Karen

Harry, my heart goes out to you in your grief. You two were soul mates and shared so many wonderful times together.
Janice and I also shared a wonderful friendship. We met at the Alliance movie theater when we were still in high school and became instant and best friends for life. The Olson family lived in Alliance for a year when Janice was a just sophomore. We lived just a block apart, spent lots of time together and walked to school with each other every day.
Our school years were fantastic. When I was a cheerleader in the 9th grade Janice taught me how to do some cheers and we had a great time practicing. I also stayed a while on the Olson farm and enjoyed getting to know her whole family. The memories of those times are still with me today. In her senior year Janice lived with me and my family, who loved her like a daughter.
When Janice first married I was proud to be her maid of honor. Little did I know then that someday she was to return the favor. I moved to Tucson in 1996 and stayed with Janice and Harry, until I found a place to live. Then in 2000, I married Bob Olson, Janice's brother and she and I really became sisters after all. She was my matron of honor and Harry was Bob's best man.
Janice was always there for me in the good times and the bad. I cherish the memory of her lovely smile, her cheerfulness, and the love she showed every day of her life.
I will miss you my dear best friend and sister-in-law. She was an angel that God shared with all of us. I love you Janice.

Though the years and miles separated us and we hadn’t talked in way too long, the love of Janice’s and my friendship never faded. It was the type of friendship where when we would reconnect, it is like we just saw each other the day before. We met 45 years ago when I began working at KZAZ as a secretary. Janice was the Business Manager; Harry was the Program Manager. Janice was there for me during my first marriage, divorce, and other relationships. She always made fun of my “Joysey” accent and how I pronounced “Harry”.
We laughed a lot, drank plenty of wine, and made many memories (Las Vegas, Miami, and I learned about this place called Nebraska and the Cornhuskers). I had the privilege of watching part of the most genuine love story, between Harry and Janice, evolve. My heart hurts deeply knowing she is no longer here, yet I imagine her having quite the reunion with her family and friends and stirring up a bit of mischief in heaven. I look forward to seeing you on the other side one day, my friend. It will be as if we saw each other just yesterday. My deepest sympathy, Harry, and to the family.

My big sister. Oh how I took you for granted and never even realized it! You were always there for me and for all of us. I will miss the praise and love she heaped on each of us and I regret that I did not appreciate it more than I did. I will always miss that and always miss her. She helped me come back to reality when I returned from Vietnam and was always there to listen. She was truly a big sister in every way and that mischievous grin will be forever remembered. That smile that could light up the darkness will be forever missed. Rest in peace Janice!

Janice was my beautiful friend for almost 50 years! She was my friend, sister, mentor and confidant. I first met her when I was interviewing at KZAZ-TV where she was the business manager and I was a naïve 19 year old interviewing for a job. She was this beautiful woman wearing hot pants and the first thing she told me with a straight face was - "you know we don't allow gum chewing here!" It took me back for a minute until I realized that she was kidding and from then on, I will never forget her always smiling and laughing - truly making work as fun as it could be.
Janice had a rare compassion and empathy for people. She helped me so much in my own growth in making me feel that I was okay and had normal emotions and feelings. Janice knew more about me than any other person and she always had my back. During those early years I also had the great pleasure of witnessing one of the greatest love stories ever when she and Harry fell in love. Their love and devotion to one another was like the stuff in romance novels. It was so obvious that they had this tremendous passion and love. In fact you could never have a conversation with Janice without her expressing her great love for Harry.
On the morning that she passed away, I knew without being told that heaven was a much brighter, lovelier place. For those of us left behind with broken hearts, I still feel her presence looking over us. I believe she is in the beautiful humming bird that buzzes outside my window every morning and in all of the beauty on this physical earth. I am grateful that she is no longer suffering, but I will always miss her and have a hole in my heart. I love you Janice and am so grateful that I had the privilege and joy of having you in my life!

Janice was such a beautiful person. She always had a smile, great sense of humor, great cook, always had something nice to say, and had a gift for making a person feel special. Ed especially remembers growing up on the farm with Janice. "She always looked out for me." Oh how she loved her brothers and sister. Harry, we know you have lost the love of your life but what wonderful years you had together. God bless you and for all you did for Janice during her illness. Love, Ed and Sylvia

Harry, Gretchen, and Chris,
Janice was and will always be one of my favorite people in this world. She had a smile that lit up the room and an easy manner that made all who were with her comfortable. I always thought she should have been a movie star. She was beautiful inside and out.
My heart aches for you guys. She will be sorely missed by all that knew her and those of us that continue to love her along with you.
Please let us know if there is ANYTHING we can do for you.
Love,
Devlin, Lori and Keagan Reece
P. S. I know she and Allison are having a grand time in Heaven!
