Obituary of Hector S Canez

Hector S. Canez of Oxnard, California age 50 passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2020. He was born to Arnold Canez (deceased) and Loreto (Samaniego) Canez (deceased) on January 11, 1970.

Hector graduated from Channel Islands High School in Oxnard, California. After high school Hector entered the work force, by starting a career in the Fulfillment warehouse with Technicolor Inc. in Camarillo, California where he would stay for 11 years.

Hector enjoyed spending time with close friends. He loved spending time with friends at the beach and mountain bike riding. He eventually moved to Palmdale, California with friends where he met Arlene Rivas. They were married on June 15, 1996, in Santa Barbara, California. Eventually, Hector moved his family to Tucson, Arizona to be closer to Arlene’s parents.

Hector was an active member of Mosaic Vineyard Community Church. He was also an administrative assistant at Tucson International Academy. He enjoyed interacting with the school community in various capacities from crossing guard to afterschool care. He was a beloved positive resource to many and he will be missed. He also enjoyed the outreach events that TIA participated in throughout the community. Hector’s love for travel started at TIA when he traveled to Paris with his daughter Monique. He looked forward to a new adventure every year and traveled to more than 23 countries!

Hector is survived by his wife of 24 years Arlene Canez (Rivas) of Tucson; His three children Eric Martin (Velene Antone), Monique Canez of Tucson, Ethan Canez of Tucson; and His grandson Andres J. Martin. He also He also will be missed by his sister Elia Arcieniego of Ventura, California (husband Carlos Arcieniego), brothers Arnold Canez of Douglas, Arizona, and Gustavo Canez of Oxnard, California.

Preceding Hector in death is his parents, brother Albert Canez and sister Vangie Barroso.

In place of flowers, we invite you to direct your donations to Brookville Wolf Reserve in Brookville Indiana or Tucson International Academy (Some people don’t like flowers!)

Due to Covid-19 precautionary measures Hector’s Memorial Service will be by personal invitation of the family Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at Drexel Heights Baptist Church at 6:00 pm located at 2802 W. Mossman Road Tucson, Arizona 85746.
