Cecilia Fimbres

Obituary of Cecilia Rebecca Fimbres

Cecilia Fimbres was called home by her heavenly Father on August 27, 2020. She is reunited with the love of her life, Joseph Fimbres, her husband of 65 years. She will also be reunited with her 5 brothers and 4 sisters that preceded her to eternal life. She is survived by two children, Carolyn and Paul, her grandson Michael and many family members, nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind many friendships made throughout her life. She always enjoyed meeting people that led to lasting and meaningful friendships. To know her, was to easily love her.

Cecilia was born in Tucson, Arizona and graduated from Amphitheater High School. She grew up when life was difficult and didn’t have many of the conveniences we take for granted. She would tell stories of her past that made us realize how we should appreciate what we have, never complaining about how life was for her. Those stories and memories will be greatly missed. Among many other things, she will be remembered for her faith, kindness, caring and loving spirit.

Cecilia was employed many years by TUSD as a special needs teacher for students less fortunate that had learning disabilities. Never seeing them as any different, she only saw them as an opportunity to make their lives better. One of her past students she would see at Costco and be proud of how she made a difference in his life.

She always loved family gatherings. She was an integral part of several family reunions that traced her heritage back at least 200 years ago. After being responsible for sending out hundreds of invitations, it gave her great joy and happiness to put faces to the invitations when the family members from all over the United States were reunited in Tucson, Arizona. These were very large gatherings, but even the smaller closer family events were just as important to her, if not even more.

After retiring, she loved being home and being able to spend time attending to her plants. In the spring, she would always pick out which bedding plants could add to her collection of flowers. When the time came for vacation trips, she looked forward to spending time together with her closest family members for very special memories never to be forgotten. She shared so much with all of us that we will always be grateful to her for that.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Fairmount Assisted Living and Aria Hospice.
