Obituary of Rosario Valdez Martinez

Our beloved Rosario Valdez Martinez. Born in Sonora Mexico to Rosario Valdez (father) and Gertrudis Garcia Valdez (mother). She was also known as Rosie, Chayo, Babe, Mom, and Nana. She was a gifted singer and arrived in Tucson, Arizona in 1967 to perform at the historic Fox Theater. She later met Armando Martinez, her loving husband of 52 years, whom she adored. Together, they raised a beautiful family. She touched many hearts throughout her life - as far away as Mexico where she was born, throughout Arizona, New Mexico, and into California. She had a beautiful heart and spirit. Friends and family knew of her love of singing, music, cooking, and gathering together. She wrote her own songs to worship God - some believe that she just may lead a choir in heaven! She was the perfect example of Godly love by giving it unconditionally to everyone she knew. She leaves behind the love of her life Armando, son Manny (Pat) Martinez, daughter Barbara (Robert) Trujillo, son Billy (Maria) Martinez, grandchildren Pilar, Megan, Bettina, Miguel, Alejandro, Elijah, Memo ,Tatiana, Gabriella, Isaac, and Isabella, and great grandchildren Alissa and Aiden, whom she loved so very much. She worshiped God here on earth until her last breath. Because of Alzheimer’s, she may had forgotten many family & friends names & faces, but not ever did she forget her God, El Señor. She passed away peacefully in her sleep into the arms of Jesus Christ. She was reunited with Him and all her family members who have gone before her - parents, siblings, and son (Mando). May Rosario’s (Chayo’s) legacy of love live in our hearts forever until we meet again. Due to concerns for the health of others and COVID restrictions, a service will be scheduled at a later date.
