I knew Harley in the 1980's and early 1990's, then I moved away to California and lost touch with him. He was a wonderful person, so funny, always teasing and fun to be around. It hurts my heart that someone so nice is gone. He was truly a really nice man.

Harley and I met in 1981 while working for the same cabinet company in Tucson. We immediately made a connection and formed a tight friendship. Harley had a great sense of humor and a friendly demeanor which was likable by everyone he met. As I was new to Tucson, Harley made sure I could find my way around town and helped me adjust to the very warm climate. Harley was like a Brother to me; he always had my back. We enjoyed many in-depth conversations over dinner at the local restaurants and Sunday breakfast at Defender Drug Store. And from my perspective, Harley was quite the ladies’ man. On occasion, we would find ourselves in a disco/night club where he always attracted the attention from the ladies, while I seemed to be invisible (sigh). After some time, I moved back to my hometown and, unfortunately, lost touch with Harley. When I retired to Arizona a few years ago, I finally located my old friend and visited him several times in the Marshall home. I am certain he enjoyed our visits as did I. So Harley, my buddy, I miss you very much. I hoped for many more visits but am grateful for the short time we spent together. Once again Harley, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your very unpleasant service in Vietnam. You were a wonderful man. May you forever Rest in Peace Harley K Hardestie. Timothy James

I just heard about Harleys passing. I worked with Harley for years at The Larson Company and we lived around the corner from each other.. I will never forget his sense of humor and contagious laughter. He use to tease me about having shoes older than me. Harley always had a good word to say and was a great friend. I will miss him, but will always be in my heart. Until we meet again. Lisa Krenzer- Hampton

I met Harley in 1981 working for the same cabinet company, and I soon realized that he was a genuine guy. I was brand new to Tucson so Harley took me under his wings. He would help me all along the way including how to deal with my first Summer living in the desert climate. We often went out for dinner so i enjoyed the great conversations together. From time-to-time, we were known to frequent a nightclub or two and he was quite the ladies man. I was invisible and Harley would always get hit on. Harley had a great sense of humor; got along with anyone he ever met. Then I moved back to my hometown and lost touch with Harley for many years. So after I retired, I moved back to Arizona and was able to locate Harley. I was lucky to visit him several times in the Marshall home, as I am certain he enjoyed my visits with him. I recently learned that Harley was awarded two purple hearts during his service in Vietnam. Thank you Harley for your sacrifice. I wish we would have had more time together, and I sorely miss him.
