Obituary of Refugio Garcia Figueroa

 

Refugio G. Figueroa (Cookie) 96 of Tucson Died peacefully on August 25, 2021 with her loving family by her side. Cookie was cared for by her daughter Mercy and great granddaughter Brianna for many years and at the end by her Daughter Ruthie.

Preceded in death by Fred T Figueroa (Husband), Sons Fred Figueroa, Carlos G. Figueroa and Ruben G Figueroa.

Survived by Daughter Mercedes & Alberto Tapia, Son Raul and Lisa Figueroa, Daughter Ruth and Antonio Redondo and Son Michael Figueroa.

25 Grandchildren, 73 Great Grandchildren, 29 Great Great Grandchildren.

We as a family are suffering the loss of a influential women to our lives, our family matriarch. Our mother, our nana, and our great nana has passed on from our lives. She was a vivacious and wonderful human being with a great amount of love and kindness in her heart. She was the driving force for many of us. The amount of compassion and empathy she exuded is beyond compare and those who knew her valued and cherished her spirit. Nature and her family was a huge driving force for her, with both of those she had everything. Always smiling, laughing and playing her piano this was her legacy. Celebrating everyone’s successes no matter how big or small. Her kind heart was always the torch leading the way for all of us and we knew we had someone special in our lives, loving unconditionally and always there to rely on. She was our warrior, and our greatest protector. Our teacher and our guide. We value the time we had with her and are more than blessed to have had her as our own. To know her was to love her and the grace and dignity she showed was effortless. We will do our best to live as vicariously as she has and to continue making her proud and carrying on her grand legacy.
