Obituary of Joseph Edward May

Joseph Edward “Doc” May, passed away at 3:38 on Thursday, October 28, 2021, at Gloria’s Assisted Living in Tucson, Arizona.

Joseph was born on March 12, 1942 at home in Jacobsburg, Ohio, the eleventh of twelve children, to Lucy Rebecca (Bennett) and William French May. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Bennett, Albert, Herb, Edna, Bertha, Myrtle and Helen.

Doc is survived by his loving wife, of almost fifty years, Patricia Ann (Lambert) May; four siblings, William, Ethel, Betty Lou and Arthur (Huck); two daughters, Janice May Cole and Dee Baker; grandchildren, Chris, Bobbie Jo, Angela and Zoë; six great grandchildren, Christopher Roland, Ashley, Melody, Tiana, Adilyn and Alexis; and one great great granddaughter, Mariah.

He owned Cherokee Plumbing, Heating and Cooling Inc. in the Ohio Valley for over thirty years. He was a Vocational Professor at West Virginia Northern Community College, for over eight years.

Doc was also a singer, songwriter and musician, and he enjoyed farming and fishing.

He will be greatly missed by all.
