Obituary of Melvina May Guyn

Melvina “Sissy” May Guyn, née Maddux, born 1939, passed away January 4, 2022 at 82 years of age in Tucson, Arizona. She is survived by sons, Robert Dean (Rosemary) Jones, William Arnold Jones, and Bryan Lee (Kathleen Manton) Jones; step-children William Guyn and Kristine Guyn; sisters Carol Irwin and Shirley Barnes; and 8 Grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death are husband, Ward Henry Guyn; former husband, William Robert Jones; step-child Edward Guyn; and brother, Jerry Maddux.

Sissy was a loving mother and caretaker. She raised a family of six children and the household often included other children who needed love and attention. She worked as a waitress at Hungry Fox, Jerry Bob’s, and Tia Elena, serving regulars as friends and holding her coworkers as beloved family members. She and Ward canned preserves and baked pies and cookies which they generously shared. She loved to dance, tell stories about her life, and line the family up for photographs. As her children grew up and moved on, she cared for grandchildren, nieces, and loved ones who needed assistance. She enjoyed cross-stitching and always had a tea towel, pillow case, or a quilt project in progress. Her kindness touched many. Her family is immensely grateful to the many caregivers who made her life comfortable in her final years.

Family and friends are invited to send cards or post well-wishes to Angel Valley Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Casa del los Ninos, (520) 624-5600 ext. 10400 or Peppi's House TMC Hospice, 5301 E. Grant Road, Tucson, AZ 85712.
