Michael Jones

Obituary of Michael Lynn Jones

Michael Lynn Jones, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many, passed away peacefully and surrounded by his wife, children, and all his grandchildren in the early afternoon hours on the 14th of May 2022 at the age of 62. He fought a long and extremely courageous battle with multiple myeloma for 17 brave years. Born in Hammond, IN on September 16, 1959, Michael was the younger brother to his sister Sherry Batchelor (Jones).

Many would say that to know Michael was to love him. He was an incredible man who loved so fiercely and showed everyone what true strength was. He lived an incredibly full life in his 62 years and was proud of the family that he created with his wife and best friend, Karleen. He was the most loving husband, wonderful father, and an even better grandfather.

He was a hero to many and brought so much joy to so many people. His presence was one that always made everyone feel safe and comforted, he was the person anyone could go to for advice – anyone that knew him, knew he always had the answers. He made the best pecan pies for all our family gatherings and was the ultimate oatmeal connoisseur. He always had the most positive attitude and faced his battle with cancer with humor, courage, and the most impeccable resilience. We all know he is enjoying cheeseburgers, steaks, and strawberry shakes while he watches over his loving family and friends.

Michael’s legacy and beautiful memories will be carried on by his loving wife of 44 years and high school sweetheart, Karleen, his children Mitchell (Ashley), Tanya (Jason), and Taylor (Andres), and his loving grandchildren Deven, Emalyn, Michael, Sadie, and Liam and his sister Sherry Batchelor.

Michael wanted all his family and friends to remember him with a celebration of life with lots of good food, drinks, music, and all the cherished memories everyone had with him. The celebration of life will be held at his daughter’s home at 440 E. Arizona Poppy Dr. Oro Valley, AZ 85755, on Sunday June 5, from 12-5pm. Family and friends are welcome to stop by at their convenience to remember Michael and share memories with his family and friends.

In lieu of flowers and in honor of Michael, his family requests that donations be made to further research on multiple myeloma. Donations can be made directly to the International Myeloma Foundation via their website.
