Florence Serra

Obituary of Florence Serra

“Come Lord Jesus come,

The time for your return is at hand.

Catch us up with you in the heavens,

For the gates of God’s kingdom are ready to open.”

Florence Serra

10/04/1936 – 09/06/2022

Florence was called to be with the Lord on September 6, 2022.

She was born in Brooklyn, New York as a first generation American and worked hard to provide the best possible environment to raise her family, spending time in Massapequa Park, Long Island, New York, and then moved the family to rural, Flagtown, New Jersey before making the decision to move to Tucson, Arizona in 1985 where she lived out her remaining years.

She was preceded in death by her parents and all 13 brothers and sisters, as she was the last to be called home of her siblings and by her son-in-law Ron.

Her Lord loving spirit, hard work ethic and strong self-preservation will live on through her children; Michael Serra and Husband John Vermeal, Frances Rome and husband Ron Rome, Anthony Serra and wife Judy Serra and Jonathan Serra and through her grandchildren; Faith, Alexandra, Angela, Anthony, Paul, Ezio and Vanessa and through her beautiful great-grandchildren; Jenna, Cody, Isabella, Eleonora, Loretta and Nova.

It wasn’t until late in life that she found herself truly at home living at Fellowship Square, a 55+ community in Tucson, Arizona. It was there that she thrived and enjoyed time spent with the many friends she’d come to know and truly love. She enjoyed activities such as shuffleboard, volleyball, movie night at Kitty’s place and the dime horse races. She will be truly missed.

In leu of flowers, cards or an additional memorial service, donations can be made in her name/honor to her favorite charity:
