Obituary of Leah Tafesse
Leah Tafesse is known for her smile. Luckily, she loved to travel, both across the USA and internationally, so her smile could light up the world. Ever a forward thinker, she received a Master of Arts in Social Science at State University of New York at Binghamton doing her thesis on the determinants of stress among working mothers which is extremely relevant today. Beloved mother of 3, grandmother to 3 and friend to many, she was a double cancer survivor, Zumba enthusiast, and an avid reader. Artistic, she often crocheted, painted ceramics, and journaled volumes in her exquisite handwriting. Her heart was so full of love and kindness, she fought her illness to stay with us for as long as possible. Daughter of Eleanor and Ralph, Leah is survived by her husband Belaynah, who always stood happily by her side for 50 years, 1 brother Ralph with wife Nancy, 2 sisters Dena with husband Ron and Karla, Leah’s children (Makonin, Genea with husband Rachid, and Malaka) and grandchildren (Elias, Maleah, and Menelik). Taken too soon, she will be missed by all who were blessed to know her.
