Obituary of Cheryl Anne Wilson

Cheryl Anne Wilson 10/30/1950 - 04/19/2022

Cheryl was raised in West Point VA, later moved to Philadelphia, PA, and shortly after joined the U.S. Army. After separating from the military, Cheryl explored several cities, ultimately landing in Tucson where she worked for Pima County and later obtained her Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Arizona.

She gave back to her beloved veterans community as a VA Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor based in Southern AZ until health issues resulted in a medical retirement. She then moved to Colorado but returned to Tucson 9 years ago.

We would like to thank the wonderful caretakers at the Tucson VA Medical Center, Peppi’s House (TMC Hospice), and her in-home caretakers Serina and Priscilla for the nurturing care they provided.

Cheryl was beloved by her family and friends - she never met a stranger and always had a smile for everyone. She loved to travel, dance, golf and raise a glass or two! Her infectious laughter and smile warmed many hearts and she will live on in our hearts and minds.

Cheryl loved watching her grandsons excel at sports. She spent much of her last few years cheering them on while they played basketball and requested that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Tucson Spartans Basketball Club (tucsonspartanbasketball.com). Donations to Tucson Medical Center Hospice are also appreciated.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 7, 2022 at Kennedy Park Lake at 10:00 am (informal attire), followed by a celebration of life at Joy and Cheryl’s home. Please contact family members for specific details at - sjoytuc@yahoo.com
