Obituary of Betty Ann Elizabeth Bogott

Betty Ann Bogott

August 28, 1926 – September 4, 2022

On September 4, 2022, Betty Ann Bogott passed away in Tucson at the age of 96. Betty was the loving wife of Lawrence Carl (Larry) Bogott (predeceased in 1970), a devoted mother of two sons and adoring grandmother.

Betty Ann Elizabeth Sorensen was born in Detroit, Michigan on August 28th, 1926. She was the youngest of four children born to John and Karen Sorenson. Betty was raised in Toledo, Ohio, where she was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church.

The Sorensen family moved from Toledo to Tucson in 1944. Betty worked in various employments, most notably as an operator for the Mountain States Telephone company, where she greeted callers and manually connected them with whom they were calling.

On May 26th, 1950, Betty married Larry at Grace Lutheran Church in Tucson. Betty and Larry lived in Boulder, Colorado and southern California before returning to Tucson in 1956. Betty is survived by their two sons, Kent and partner Paula Wertman, Mark and wife Robin, and three grandchildren, Matthew, Heather (Michael) Craig, and Lindsey. Betty is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and their families.

After Larry’s death, Betty used her outgoing personality as a Welcome Newcomer hostess, meeting and greeting many of those newly located to Tucson. Betty enjoyed traveling the country and the world with various family members and friends. She especially enjoyed her trips to Denmark, the Sorensen family homeland, spending time with the family there.

Betty has been an active member of Faith Lutheran Church since 1956, teaching Sunday School, playing handbells, and many other activities. She cherished her church home and the assistance that they provided her in her later years. We also thank her friend and neighbor, Michele Lowe, and friend Shana Esquivel, for their loving care for the past 2.5 years.

Donations may be made in her name to Faith Lutheran Church or an organization of your choice.
