Obituary of Richard Rafael Galvez

Richard Rafael Galvez, 84 years of age, was summoned home by our Lord, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, December 9, 2023. Richard passed peacefully at his home in Tucson, Arizona, having lived a long and fruitful life. Richard Rafael Galvez was born in Tucson, Arizona to Filomeno and Maria Galvez on September 10, 1939. Richard’s calling in life was undoubtedly, to tend to the children of the family. He was never married, yet he had upwards of 33 children over the years, all of them nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. His parents called him Ricardo, but to the rest of us he was our “Uncle Dickie”. He was a mentor, friend, role model, big brother, and now we honor him as we would our own mother and father. Richard Galvez is preceded in death by his parents, Filomeno and Maria Galvez, his brothers, Victor Sr. and Fr. Elias, and his sisters, Sr. Philomena and Sr. Ursula, and his sisters-in-law Sara (Frank’s wife) and Janice (Victor Sr.’s wife), and his nephew Francisco (“David”, Victor Sr.’s son). Richard Galvez is survived by his brother, Frank, eight nieces and nephews; Victor Jr., Alex, Mary Rita, Mary Ann, Mary Jo, Mary Helen, Christopher, and Cathy; seventeen grand nieces and nephews, and seven great nieces and nephews.

There will be a Reception Lunch after the service in the Immaculata Hall at the church.
