Obituary of Gilbert Alvarez

Gilbert Joseph Alvarez died peacefully on May 31, 2013 surrounded by family and friends. He was born on March 7, 1948 to Gilbert Sr. and Alicia Alvarez in Tucson, AZ. He served our country from 1969 to 1972 in the United States Army, and recently retired after 36 years of employment with the City of Tucson Water Department. He was also a proud member of the Pascua Yaqui tribe. Gilbert had a great love for the outdoors and enjoyed fishing whenever possible. He is survived by his daughter, Nina-Marie Salvemini; son-in-law, Tony and his four grandchildren, Alyssa, Lauren, Gabriel and Nick. Gilbert was loved by many and will be greatly missed. There will be a Mass held for Gilbert on Saturday June 8, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Santa Cruz Church, 1220 S. 6th Avenue, Tucson, Arizona 85702.
