Karl J. Gerschutz, CMSgt (Ret), USAF, and Senior Logistics Specialist, Raytheon, dies at 56. Karl J. Gerschutz, who served 30 years in the US Air Force, retiring in '07 as a Chief Master Sergeant, and was Senior Logistics Specialist for Raytheon, died June 29, in Tucson, AZ. The cause was a cycling accident. He was 56. An avid cyclist, Gerschutz competed in many cycling races across the US and Europe. Gerschutz was born and reared in New Bavaria, OH; graduated high school in 1974 and enlisted in the USAF. A devout Catholic, Gerschutz actively volunteered in his community. He is a graduate of Park University. This family man is survived by his wife of 34 years, Teresa A. (Rutter) Gerschutz; daughters Deena A. Jones (Lynn) of St. Louis and Jill Marie Gerschutz-Bell (Todd) of Washington, DC; 2 grandchildren; and 14 brothers and sisters. Gerschutz will be shown on Friday, July 5, at the Love-Heitmeyer Funeral Home in Ottawa, OH. The funeral will be held at Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in New Bavaria, OH, on Saturday, July 6.
