Obituary of Mary Tellez

Mary Ellen Tellez, 89, passed away on December 30, 2013. Born in Higginsville, MO on November 27, 1924 and moved to Tucson AZ at the age of 17. Mary is preceded in death by husbands George S. Karakey and Marcus F. Tellez, son Marcus C. Tellez, grandson Lucas S. Tellez and great-grandson Tyler S. Fritz. Mary is survived by son George S. Karakey, Jr. (Connie L.), daughter Carole J. Bernier (Joseph R.), daughter-in-law Linda Tellez, 7 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Mary, who was known to all as “Granny”, was devoted to her family and she was loved by all. She always greeted everyone with a hug, even if she was meeting them for the first time. Granny was a strong supporter and fan of Salpointe Lancer Football. Her favorite pastime was watching Diamondbacks baseball, U of A sports and making everyone feel at home. The viewing, with a Rosary service, will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 2, 2014 at the Angel Valley Funeral Home, 2545 N. Tucson Blvd. A graveside liturgy will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 3, 2014 at Holy Hope Cemetery, 3535 N.
