Obituary of Paul Minnamon

Paul S "Bud" Minnamon 82, of Tucson, Arizona, died Christmas Eve at 7:20 p.m., December 24, 2013. Paul was born on July 8, 1931 in Pittsford, NY to Mildred and Donald Minnamon. After high school Paul enlisted in the Air Force in 1950, served with the 9th Fighter Bombing Squadron as a radio operator/repair person, and received an honorable discharge as Staff Sergeant in 1954. He moved to Tucson in 1957, attended the University of Arizona and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Wildlife Management in 1961. The University of Arizona hired him in 1961 as a Graduate Fellow in the Cooperative Wildlife Research Unit. He received a Master of Science degree in Wildlife Management in 1963 and his dissertation was The Home Range of the Collared Peccary in the Tucson Mountains. In 1963 he was hired by Arizona Game and Fish as a fish biologist and Regional Fish Manager. He taught at and retired from Sahuaro High School and the Tucson Unified School District in 1989 with 24 years of service. Paul was always a good friend and enjoyed teaching young folks – he enjoyed talking about all things political and was always well informed. For recreation he loved to travel, camp, fish and hunt with his friends in AZ, MT, ID, and WY. Paul was predeceased by his wife Virginia Rice Minnamon (1957-1989) and by his wife Pamela Knight Minnamon (1995-2000). He is survived by his loving wife of 13 years, Joan Metzger Minnamon. He was cremated and his ashes will be scattered at a latter date. He will be honored with a gathering of friends in Tucson. Please say a prayer for Paul. Donations can be made to TMC Hospice, 5301 E.
