Obituary of Georgia Pappas

Gia Lorena Pappas, age 41, of Tucson, AZ, peacefully passed on Saturday, February 8th, 2014 at 2:40 am. She was born to the late Lorrie and George Pappas, September 19th, 1972, in Rapid City, SD was raised by Roxann Hitzel Pappas along with George and her siblings. Gia graduated from Central High School in 1991 and also received some college credits from Pima Community College. She had a son Christian Ramirez in Wichita Kansas on November 12, 1991. Later reuniting with her love of her life high school sweet heart fiancé Jim Ferrell July 22nd 2011 Gia was a full-time nurturing mother and was extremely passionate about mentoring youths in physical, mental and spiritual fitness. She worked informally with anyone and everyone willing to share in her passion, guiding many throughout her life. Gia identified as a Christian but also carried around a mix of beliefs gathered from her walks in life. She was a long time member of the Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) where she actively networked within her community with individuals that shared in her desire to help those in need. She enjoyed exploring nature, to include jogging, hiking, camping and climbing with family, friends, and her beloved pets. Gia is survived by her fiancé Jim Ferrell son Christian Ramirez son Josh Ferrell daughter Caitlin Ferrell of Tucson, AZ. She also is survived by her Step mother Roxann Hitzel Pappas brothers Tony Pappas ,Theron Pappas, Tosh Pappas and sister Tasia Pappas and sister in law Kris Pappas and numerous nieces and nephews all of Rapid City SD. A memorial gathering will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Summer Haven Community Center on Mt Lemmon in Tucson, Arizona
