Obituary of Dimitri Kececioglu
Dimitri B. Kececioglu
12/26/1922 -- 3/21/2014 Dimitri Basil Kececioglu, 91, born in Istanbul, Turkey of Greek heritage passed away in Tucson, Arizona, in the loving presence of his wife Lorene, and is held dear by his daughter Zoe Draelos, his son John, Zoe's husband Michael and grandsons Mark and Matthew. Dimitri and Lorene met at Purdue University, where he completed his PhD in 1953, and were married in 1951. After serving as Director of Reliability at Allis-Chalmers in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where daughter Zoe was born, Dimitri came to Tucson, where son John was born, to join the University of Arizona in 1963 as Full Professor in the Department of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering, where he taught for more than 40 years. A pioneer in the field of Reliability Engineering, in which he was a sought-after consultant to industry, and a Fulbright Scholar, Dimitri published more than 150 papers and authored eight books, including the two-volume Reliability Engineering Handbook. Dimitri is much loved by his family, and touched the lives of many.
