Obituary of Violet Schroeder

Just as the the sun was setting on March 31, 2014, Violet Ruth Schroeder (96) peacefully passed away with her family at her side. Violet was born in Michigan City, Indiana on September 3, 1917 to John W. Schultz and Lilian B. Gropp Schultz. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Robert Schultz and his wife Virginia; her sister-in-law Betty Lee Schultz; husband Thomas F. Schroeder; daughters Nancy R. (Richard) Ashbeck, and Jeanne F. Broomell. She is survived by her daughter Susan M. (Steve) Dolan, Tucson; grandchildren Thomas C. Ashbeck, Mesa, AZ; and Jennifer S. Ashbeck (Mike) Jennings, Tucson, AZ; great-granddaughter Katelyn Jennings; her brother Jack Schultz; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Violet was a beautician in 1937 when she married Tom. They lived in Michigan City, Indiana until 1954 when they moved with their three daughters to Hazelhurst, Wisconsin to live on a beautiful Lake Windpudding homestead bequeathed to them by Tom's uncle, Charles Stube. When her daughter Nancy and her husband died in 1978, Tom and Violet raised their two children. When Tom died in 1986 Violet moved to Tucson with her grandchildren to live near her daughter Susan and enjoy the glory of the Santa Catalina Mountains and the beauty of the Sonoran Desert. Violet loved music and was an avid reader who enjoyed textile arts, writing letters, and keeping up her daily journal. A celebration of life will be held at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 11575 N 1st Ave, Oro Valley on April 26, 2014 At 2:00 pm.
