Abraham Garcia

Obituary of Abraham Garcia

A one of a kind man who was born in the desert and chose to live by the bay left his physical body on August 3, 2014 at the age of 82. Abran was born to Bernabe and Rosa Garcia on February 5, 1932. His large, extended family included two brothers and 13 sisters. He is survived by a son, Michael J. Quintero, three loving sisters, Celia Lopez, Ofelia Gradillas, Angela Garcia-Sims and numerous nieces and nephews. Abran was a decorated Korean War Veteran who served two tours. He merited the Bronze Star and Purple Heart by carrying a wounded comrade to safety while under fire and wounded himself. Unbeknownst to him, the comrade he saved was a One Star General. Upon Abran’s return, the general insisted a parade be held to honor Corporal Garcia’s “extremely courageous action”. Upon moving to CA he called himself Abraham and with time he called himself Lone Wolf; a perfect name for a fiercely independent man who happily lived a full life on his own terms. We honor and remember a renegade hippy, a proud looking chief with a long, beautiful white ponytail, his whisper way of speaking with a unique cadence and mostly we remember Lone Wolf with love. The family thanks Dwayne Albro, and the SAVA Hospital and Home for compassion and care.
