Obituary of Carolyn Fuhrberg

Carolyn Fuhrberg was born on August 4, 1931 in Grand Island, Nebraska. She received a Bachelor’s degree in Music from Drake University, in Des Moines Iowa. An accomplished Pianist all of her life, she was the active President of the SRI chapter her senior year, and elected to Pi Kappa Lambda Honorary Music Fraternity. In July 1984, she was the official accompanist at the Sigma Alpha International Convention in Chicago. Her post graduate studies included courses at the American Conservatory of Music in Chicago, private studies with William Doppman, Claudette Sorrel, Paul Strause, Gellert Modos, Rudolph Reuter, and Katherine Glaser. She taught at Wheaton College in Wheaton Illinois, in the Suzuki Program. She was a member of the Kansas City Music Teachers National association, Federated Teachers and Heartland of America Suzuki Teacher’s Association. In her Junior year of College, She started teaching in the prepatory Department, and continued teaching ever since in Iowa, Columbus Ohio, Chicago Suburbs, and Kansas City. She is survived by three children: Patricia Curtis of Las Vegas Nevada, Julia Coons of Tucson Arizona, and David Coons of Sadie Ville, Kentucky. She is also survived by two nieces, two Nephews and six grandchildren.
