Obituary of Mary Zaferis

Mary Zaferis died peacefully on January 7th, 2015 in Tucson, Arizona with loved ones by her side. She was the first of 5 girls to immigrate to America in 1950 from Greece. She was born in Samos, Greece on March 28th, 1928. After arriving to America, she learned the English language and became an American citizen. She met Peter Zaferis and was married on January 27th, 1952. After marriage she taught Sunday School and Greek school at St. Prophet Elias Church in San Bernardino, CA. Mary is survived by her son Jim, daughter Vassie, daughter-in-law Valerie, sisters Vassaliki, Andiopi, and Penelope, 4 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Pete. Visitation will be held on Monday evening, January 12th, 2015 at Angel Valley Funeral Home in Tucson, AZ from 6:00 - 8:00PM. A funeral will be on Tuesday January 13th, 2015 at 11:00AM in Saint Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, Tucson, Arizona.
