Obituary of Alberta Kelly

Alberta Maxine Kelly (a.k.a. Max) returned to her heavenly Father at the young age of 101 years on December 8, 2015, in Tucson. Arizona, with her family and friends by her side. Her devotion to her faith and family carried her during the journey that led her to eternal peace. Alberta was born to Albert and Blanche Traphagan in Danville, Illinois on October 5, 1914. She was the manager and cook for the lunch program at Schlarman High School in Danville in the 1950’s. She and her husband, Merlin, owned Kelly’s Market in Danville for ten years in the 1960’s. They moved to Tucson, Arizona, in 1973. Alberta was a vibrant woman who dedicated her life to her faith and family sharing her strong values. Even through difficult times, her incredible sense of humor never ceased. Her impeccable memory kept us all on our toes with amazement. She will dearly be missed by the lives she touched during her productive time with us. All of her hard work has finally paid off. She has received the ultimate gift and reward of eternal life with Christ. Alberta is survived by her daughter, Pat Angell; daughter-in-law, Mary Jean Kelly; nephews, Brad (Dana) Wheeler and Barry (Barb) Wheeler; grandchildren Kelly (Fili) Islas, Karla Angell-Holmes, Eric (Chris) Angell, Teresa Angell, Sue (John) Hendrickson, Nancy Kelly, John (Becki) Kelly; and great grandchildren, Rachel, Mark, Kyle, Katie, Kevin, Jordyn, Matthew, Nicholas, Amanda, Jack, Cody, and Bailey. She is preceded in death by husband, Merlin; son, Mike; son-in-law, Norman Angell; sisters, Mildred and Nadine; and nephews, Don and Jeff. The Funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Church in Tucson, on Friday, December 18 at 11:00 a.m., followed by graveside service at Holy Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, family asks for any fond memories or pictures to share on the Angel Valley Funeral Home website, or mailed to their address.
