Obituary of Myrtle Betton

Myrtle Powell Betton (Pooh) was born July 18, 1943 to the late Alice Cummings and John Powell in Dalton, Georgia. She attended Emory Street School. She married the Love of her Life, the late Deacon Ray F. Betton in 1965. To this union two children were born, Veleeta and Ray Anthony. She was employed at the Davis-Monthan Air Force Base Youth Center for 16 years and retired in 2006. She was a member of Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church. She served on the Praise Team. At 4:20 p.m., January 14, 2016 the Lord said come unto me and I will give you rest. Those left to rejoice in her home going are: one daughter, Veleeta Buchanan, one son, Ray Anthony (Tricia) Betton of Minnesota, four grandchildren, Sylvina Betton, Trent Brown, Gabrielle Betton and Blake Betton, two great-grandchildren, Mariah Betton, Jackson and Monet Hall, two sisters, Carolyn (Honeychile) Binns of Detroit, Michigan, Mamie (Sugar) Thomas (Morris) of Stone Mountain, Georgia, four brother-in-laws, David (Ollie) Betton of Decatur, Georgia, Bernard (Cheryl) Betton, Robert James (Helen) Rivers, and Curtis (Patricia) Rivers all of Dalton, Georgia, two sister-in-laws, Claudette King of Atlanta, Georgia and Teresa Ray of Dalton, Georgia, four very special nieces, Shelena of Dalton, Georgia, Davetta, Lisa and Monica, and a special great niece DeLisa, all of Stone Mountain, Georgia, two special nephews, Steve Beck of Mesa, Arizona and Joe Baker of Long Beach, California, three special friends and classmates, Martha Patton, Patsy McDade, and Jimmie Lucky. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends will truly miss her.
