Obituary of Jack Martin

MARTIN, Jack Barnes, Jr., 88, passed away at his home Friday, June 17th, 2016 Preceded in death by parents Helen and Jack, and stepson James (Lerua). Survived by Sister Bette (Kincade), and six children: Jack (Renee), Bette (Les Vance), Charles (Barbara), Deborah (Craig Moore), Robert (Joanne), and Michelle. Jack (Pops) had his life enriched by 16 Grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren, as well as childhood and life-long friends Lawrence (Larry) Powers & Robert (Bud) Schofield. A native Tucsonan, pioneer family’s descendant, and Tucson High Grad, Jack returned to Tucson after serving in the Army where he assisted his father in the operation of his company Arizona Ice & Cold Storage. Jack’s never ending entrepreneurial spirit defined his professional career by inspiring him to start all of his own businesses- Tucson Produce Company, EZ Water Company, Kopper Key Coin Company, and Smith-Martin Paint and Body, Inc., from where he retired in 1999. Jack was a lifelong “Wildcat”, and was a season football ticket holder using the same tickets that were passed on to him from his dad. Jack was a gifted artist, patient fisherman, determined rock-hound, golfer, Arizona “back roads” explorer, numismatic, bird hunter, ichthyologist, as well as a devoted lover of dogs. His word was his bond, and his smile and quick wit could light up a room, warm your heart, and calm your fears. His professional legacy will be that of a simple man of great integrity, with a keen sense for business. Personally he will be remembered as being loyal and supportive to his family and friends, and always giving when needed. A Celebration of Jack’s life will be held on Sunday July 10th. For information call 520-631-8858, or email to JBMcelebrationoflife@yahoo.com. Condolences may be made at www.angelvalleyfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Southern Arizona Humane Society or the Southern Arizona Desert Museum.
