Mildred Hastings

Obituary of Mildred Hastings

Now I understand, I know … You’ll soothe my hurt You’ll comfort me You’ll dry my tears You’ll hold my hand You’ll feed me You’ll clothe me You’ll protect me You’ll shelter me You’ll teach me But most of all … You’ll love me! --Millie, 6/4/91 On August 20, 2016, Mildred (Wilson) Hastings, 67, died peacefully, with her husband, her family, and her pastor at her side. Born in east Texas to Roger and Martha Wilson, Millie’s love of learning was evident early when, at age 3, she could recite the Lord’s Prayer and, at age 6, the books of the Bible! When she was 8, her family moved to Arizona where, several years later, she met the love of her life, Steve, at San Manuel High School. She went on to graduate with a Masters from the University of Arizona and held degrees in Deaf Education and Speech and Hearing Science. She worked for several southern Arizona districts including San Manuel, ASDB, and Sunnyside. Her warm and friendly smile and her education training were used in her volunteer efforts with her church, which included children’s activities and deaf interpretation. Her creativity can be seen in her photographs, poetry, and crafts. Her true passion and devotion, though, was her family. The love she showered on them will live on in their hearts and lives forever. Millie is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Steve, her children, Eryq (Heidi Davies), Elaine, and Greg, her 92-year-old father, Roger Wilson, her sisters Roggie and Edna (Leonard), and brothers/sisters-in-law Stan (Christy), Foy, Ralph, Lola (Ray) and Hope. Mildred also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews, relatives, and friends. She will be deeply missed. A special thank you to Glad Tidings Assembly of God’s Pastor Steve Hilton and Assistant Pastor Carlos Barela for their comfort, prayers, and support. A memorial service will be held in the near future.
