Obituary of Ronald Lusteck

Ronald James Lusteck, beloved husband of Jo DeChatelet, died peacefully at home with his family on July 7, 2010 after a three-year battle with malignant melanoma. He is survived by his brother, Joseph Lusteck; son, Ryan (Katrina) Lusteck; his step-children, Scott ( Kim) Brandhuber, Thomas (Tamara) Brandhuber, Kristin (Daniel) Liebelt , and Amy Brandhuber; his grandchildren, Justin and Toby Lusteck, Tory, Paige, Jasmine and Bailey Brandhuber, Brooke (Jason) Rash, Jennifer (Ricky) Grayson, and Joel (Mary Elizabeth) Merrill ; seven great-grandchildren, numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins. Ron was preceded in death by his parents Joseph Anton and Mary Frances Lusteck and his sister-in-law, Happy Lusteck. Ron was born April 5, 1944 in Buffalo, NY and moved to Tucson in 1947. He was a Salpointe Catholic High School graduate. Ron was proud of his 25 years of service to our country as a member of the Arizona Air National Guard. He served as a medic, and also ran the Clinic in his civilian job. He retired from the service as a Chief Master Sergeant. After his military career, Ron spent 20 years as a realtor with Century 21 Heritage Realty. He began his love of music in 1955 as a percussionist and played numerous events through high school and his early twenties. A rekindled interest in playing the drums inspired him to found the Salpointe Catholic High School Alumni Band. He served as its coordinator for seven years. Ron was a past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council 1200, and a past Faithful Navigator of the Columbus Assembly 0016 in addition to serving in various other community organizations. The family wishes to thank all those who supported Ron through this difficult time. We will miss his great love for us and his wonderful, dry sense of humor.
