Obituary of Josephine Ingram
Josephine (Jo) Klier Ingram of Sierra Vista passed from this life November 28,
2010, at the Carondelet Hospice in Tucson, Arizona. She died peacefully
following multiple organ failure after surgery for colon cancer. Active at
Sierra Evangelical Lutheran Church, Jo lived her faith every day and found
consolation in the prayers and support of her natural family and her family of
faith.
Born in Stonewall, Texas, on March 25, 1929, Jo grew up in Corona, New Mexico,
attended Western New Mexico University in Silver City, and graduated with a BA
from New Mexico A and M (now New Mexico State University) in Las Cruces. She
took Graduate courses at USC and the University of Arizona.
Jo taught Elementary School and music for 21 years at the Fort Huachuca
Extension Schools, after teaching 4 years in New Mexico. She was a pianist and
choir director with the Military Chapels on Post, the Sunday School programs at Sierra Evangelical Lutheran Church, and was an accompanist at churches in
Southeast Arizona, and eastern New Mexico. She directed the local “Up with
People” Community Youth Choir in the 1970’s.
An avid student of the Bible, Jo taught and participated in Bible studies and
Sunday school, in both formal and informal classes and studies with the Women of the ELCA and extension courses from Luther Seminary in St. Paul. She enjoyed traveling abroad in Europe, Israel, and Palestine, as well as Alaska, Canada, and much of the United States. Jo also enjoyed an active life, performing in several Center Stage Productions, church vocal ensembles, hand bell choir, and winning many medals in Table Tennis at Senior Olympics in Sierra Vista and in southern Arizona.
Jo is preceded in death by her parents Dora and Wilhelm Klier of Fredericksburg, Texas, and her husband Conrad Jones of Little Rock, Arkansas, and her second husband James Ingram of Cairo, Georgia.
Jo is survived by, and will be missed by, her daughter, Karen, her sons, Robert and Mike, four grandchildren, Sarah, Cara, Dylan, and Avery, two great
grandchildren, Brooke and Cody, her family of faith at Sierra Evangelical
Lutheran Church, and many dear friends near and far.
