Obituary of Nancy Jorstad

Nancy (Charlton) Jorstad passed away peacefully on Dec.15, 2010 in Green Valley, AZ at the Silver Springs retirement community where she lived for the last two years with her second husband, Robert Jorstad. Nancy was born to Henry and Norma Robertson on May 13, 1924 in Arlington, WA. The family, including her and her brother Bill Robertson, moved to Ellensburg, WA where she resided most of her life. She graduated from Ellensburg High School in 1942. Nancy married her high school sweetheart, Ralph Charlton, in 1944 just before he left for Europe and WWII. Upon his return from the war, they resided on the family farm off Naneum Rd. With four children and a working farm, Nancy kept very busy. She enjoyed her many friends and raising her children. Later in life, as a single woman, Nancy traveled to Tucson, AZ and became an avid snowbird. While enjoying new friends, swimming, and warm weather, she met her second husband, Robert Jorstad, from Rice Lake, WI. They were married in 1992 and later moved from Ellensburg to Sequim, WA. They enjoyed socializing with their many friends living in Dungeness Meadows as well as golfing, playing cards, and snow birding to Tucson and Lake Havasu, AZ. Nancy was preceded in death by her first husband, Ralph Charlton, in February of 2009; and her second husband, Robert Jorstad, in November of 2009. She is survived by son Ralph (RG) Charlton and Kathy of Sequim, WA; daughter Jan Ederle and Roger of Green Valley, AZ; son Win Charlton and Anna of Ellensburg, WA; and son Keith (KC) Charlton and Colleen of Chehalis, WA.; grandsons Collin Crenshaw (Courtney Coffman), Paul Charlton (Jessie Bay), Justin Charlton, Cody Charlton (Dani), Colton Charlton; and granddaughters Andrea Crenshaw MacLeod (Michael), Nea Charlton, and Kailey Jo Charlton; and two great grandchildren Teagen and Owen Charlton. Nancy's special smile, laughter, generosity and caring for others will be missed by all. Her family would like to express their deepest thanks to the staff at Silver Springs in Green Valley, Heartland Hospice of Tucson, and her very special personal caregiver, Peggy vanKerckhoven. They treated her and the family with great compassion, dignity and respect.
