Mary Garrison

Obituary of Mary Garrison

Mary Lynn Garrison (Garrett) at age 68 was called back into the Lord’s Loving Rest when she passed away peacefully with family by her side due to complications from Congestive Heart Failure following surgery on Thursday July 21, 2011 at 9:00pm at the University Medical Center in Tucson, Arizona. Mary was born in Des Moines Iowa on June 5, 1943 to William and Ruth Garrett (Sumpter), and was the youngest of seven children: Dorthy Johnston Pauline Heck John Garrett William Garrett Robert Garrett Donald Garrett Mary Garrett Mary lived in the state of Kansas and worked as a case-worker for the state of Kansas until she retired in 2007. She then moved to Tucson to enjoy her retirement. Mary truly loved being retired and venturing around town to different bookstores, collecting novels and reading books on her Kindle. She loved watching movies with her family, looking at spectacular fish tanks, and she always looked forward to visits from her children and especially her grandchildren. Being an avid book reader is how we will best remember her. She would often say “I wouldn’t be mad if two chocolate donuts, or some chicken nuggets fell into my lap.” This is to all who love her and cherish the special moments with her. You can shed tears that she is gone Or you can smile because she has lived You can close your eyes and pray that she will come back Or you can open your eyes and see all that she has left Your heart can be empty because you can't see her Or you can be full of the love that you shared You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday You can remember her and only that she is gone Or you can cherish her memory and let it live on You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back Or you can do what she would want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on. Romans 14:7-9 None of us lives to himself, and none of us dies to himself. If we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord; so then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord's. For to this end Christ died and lived again, that he might be Lord both of the dead and of the living Mary is survived by an older brother and sister, 6 children and their spouses Teri (Will) Donny (Dawn) Steve (Monica) Brenda (Andre), Frank, and Tim. 10 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and a host of friends.
