Obituary of Donald Kelly

Donald Kelly, 82, formerly of Margaretville, New York, passed away on September 26, 2011 at Kindred Hospital in Tucson, Arizona surrounded by his family.Don was born in Margaretville, NY on July 24, 1929 to Douglas Kelly and Ina (Sanford) Kelly. He married Janet Peck on July 12, 1953. He spent 2 years in the US Army based at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas. He then owned and operated Kelly Power Equipment, formerly known as Douglas Kelly & Son Farm Machinery on Main Street, Margaretville until selling the business in 1973. Donald and his wife relocated their family to Tucson, Arizona where he worked for the City of Tucson Parts Department until he retired in 1994. Don is survived by his wife of 58 years, Janet Kelly, a daughter Donna Kelly-Rakic of Lynchburg, VA, a son Richard and wife Sally Kelly of Tucson, AZ, a daughter Teresa and husband David Goodchild of Margaretville, NY, grandsons Matthew Augustine, Samuel Dunnings and Justin Kelly, great grandchildren Sean and Kealey Augustine, his sister Shirley and husband Robert Elliott of Oneonta, NY and Ocala, FL, and several nieces and nephews. Don was predeceased by his parents and a brother Gerald. He was a member of the Margaretville Masonic Lodge for over 50 years and a life member of the Margaretville Fire Department. Don was an avid toy collector, hunter and fan of the Arizona Wildcats Football and Basketball teams. In his retirement, he was a security guard at the mobile home park where he resided for the last four years.
