Obituary of James Brice

James J. Brice died April 14, 2012. A resident of Oro Valley, Jim was born in Chicago, Illinois in October of 1925. He was a Master Sergeant in the Air Transport Command during WWII, stationed in India as a mechanic and flying gasoline over “The Hump” into China. After the war he attended Northwestern University, graduating in 1950. After working for Standard Oil for a short period, Jim joined Arthur Andersen & Co. He retired from Arthur Andersen in 1988 after having served as Managing Partner of the Los Angeles and Chicago offices and Co-Chairman of the firm. Jim was active in civic and charitable affairs, serving on numerous boards including the Lyric Opera of Chicago, the Adler Planetarium, McCormick Place and the Field Museum of Natural History. Among the many civic awards he received, one of his most cherished was the honor he received from the Urban League of Chicago for his work in advancing the cause of civil rights. A devoted husband and father, he was married to his Austin High School sweetheart, Rosemary, for 63 years. In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, Susan (Keith) Kotchou, John (Amy) Brice, Kim (Bob) Mackey, Pamela, and Tracey (Jimmy) Howard as well as four grandchildren, Shannon (Bill) Etnyre, Lauren Mackey, Andy Brice and Lily Brice.
