Obituary of Carlos Garcia

Carlos Garcia 1927-2012 Carlos Garcia, 85, of Corpus Christi, TX, passed away peacefully in his sleep in Tucson, AZ, on Saturday September 29, 2012. Born in Brownsville, TX, January 30, 1927, Carlos lived much of his life before and after his military career in Corpus Christi. He was drafted out of high school, served 2 years in the Army, and then 30 years in the US Air Force, retiring in 1979 as Chief Master Sargent. Carlos served in WWII, the Korean, and Vietnam wars, and throughout his military career at Big Springs AFB, TX; James Connelly AFB, Waco, TX; Goose Bay AFB, Goose Bay, Labrador, Canada; England AFB, Alexandria, LA; Altus AFB, Altus, OK; Albrook AFB, Panama City, Panama and Hill AFB, Ogden, UT. Most of his military service was as a mechanic and aircraft crew chief, working on B-29, C-130, C-141, C-47, C-5, A-37, F-4, and F-16 aircraft. Carlos was especially known for his humor and encouragement. Carlos was married to the previously deceased Clara (Vidaurri) Garcia. He met his bride to be when he was 12 years old and she was 6! They married (much later) and remained so for 50 years. Carlos, a most peaceful, gentle father and grandfather, leaves behind a loving legacy of family; Gloria Garcia (Joe Cardinal) of Long Beach, CA; Carlos Garcia Jr. (Mary Beth) of Tucson, AZ; David Garcia (Karen) of San Antonio, TX; and grandchildren John Richard Garcia, Vicente Alva Cardinal, Christina Irene Garcia, Charles Forrest Cardinal, Jenna Maria Garcia, and Logan David Garcia. Carlos also leaves behind the loving staff of his decade long family at Sterling House Assisted Living home, in Tucson, AZ. Carlos is preceded in death by his parents, Edwardo Garcia and Genoveva (Martinez) Garcia, his elder brother Roberto Garcia, and elder sister Ninfa (Garcia) Frock
