Obituary of Tipton Hunter Silliman

Tipton Hunter Silliman, aka Tipper, Tippy the hippie, Tipster, Tipperman and Tipper Dipper, perished at the scene of a tragic motorcycle accident on 07 June 2019 in Tucson, Arizona. He was born 26 March 1958 in Rock Springs, Sweetwater, Wyoming to the parents of Edward Frisby Silliman and Helen Irene Hunter.

Tip graduated high school at the American School in Isfahan, Iran in 1976. After graduation, Tip returned to Tucson, Arizona where he lived for most of his adult life. He was a prep cook extraordinaire and shared his skills at various restaurants throughout Tucson.

His hobbies included art, wood carving, biking and reading. For 16 years and until his death he was a passionate advocate for Alcoholics Anonymous and substance abuse programs. He enjoyed socializing with his friends at Tommy's on Stone Ave in Tucson. Dedicated to his commitment to stay sober, Tip never forgot his many friends at Tommy's. He had a favorite chair that was always reserved for him and he shared laughs and stories with his friends while sipping a tall glass of Pepsi.

Tip was loved, cherished, admired and appreciated for his kindness and compassion. He was the kind of friend that you wished you could be.

He was a strong advocate for "Start Seeing Motorcycles" as well as promoting designated drivers for those who were going to drink.

Tip's untimely passing leaves a huge hole in the heart of his family and many, many friends.

Preceding him in death was his brother Jack Lloyd Silliman, who was killed in Vietnam in 1969 and his parents.

He is survived by his sister Kathy Baker, his brothers Bobby Silliman, James Silliman and Joe Taylor Silliman; his niece Connie Romero and his nephews John Baker, John (Silliman) DeForest, Jayson Silliman, Jack Silliman, Frank Silliman, and Jackson Silliman.

Tip's ashes will be cast by his family into the dry winds of Gates Pass where he will become part of the Arizona desert that he loved so passionately.
