Mom taught me the differences between sanctity & sanctimony, sentiment & sentimentality. Ken Rowe illustrated these distinctions. Like a full-grown St. Bernard, Ken was all sentiment. He'd wag his tail or wag his finger with equal gusto. He'd lend a helping hand with no hesitation, or give the finger with no regrets. His sentiments ran the gamut -- anger, joy, disgust, hate, love, approval, disapproval -- each without fear or forethought. Frequently he'd get on my nerves; but never under my skin. Ken's sentimentality score? Zero. You'd never get a Hallmark card from Ken, a holy picture, or a sappy compliment. Ken was real. Sometimes to a fault. But always real.
Big Ken was my buddy. I miss him. --- Gary Corbett

His Journey’s Just Begun
By Ellen Brenneman
Don’t think of him as gone away
his journey’s just begun,
life holds so many facets
this earth is only one.
Just think of him as resting
from the sorrows and the tears
in a place of warmth and comfort
where there are no days and years.
Think how he must be wishing
that we could know today
how nothing but our sadness
can really pass away.
And think of him as living
in the hearts of those he touched…
for nothing loved is ever lost
and he was loved so much.
We Love and Miss you so very Much Dad, Poppy, Big Ken! Out of sight, but in our Hearts for Ever. With all our love, Tracey, Gary and Abigail

Will miss Ken he always would stop by just to talk or have a cup of coffee. Will never forget the hug he gave me the day my brother died when he came right over to see me. Love the family may God give you peace. We hunted deer together several times and will never forget our trip to PA in the blizzard of 1978. We camped together for several years also.
